SAY NO TO DRUGS..................
The Kerala government on 6th october launched a “No to Drugs” awareness campaign with Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan saying people from all walks of life should come together to make the state free of destructive contrabands. The CM said not even a second can be wasted in the fight against the deadly substance as the terrible danger it causes in society was beyond description. He said more than a Chief Minister, he would like to talk to the children as their grandfather and as a brother to their parents. “The objective is to make Kerala a drug-free state. We have to win this fight anyway. Many would think that it is impossible. But, we will make it happen,” he asserted. As the CM was abroad as part of his European tour, his speech, inaugurating the one-month-long campaign, was telecast on the KITE-VICTERS, the state-owned educational channel, and screened in educational institutions in the southern state.
As part of this campaign , the anti narcotic club ,Nerkootam and Sradha committee of Govt.College of Teacher Education,Thycaud organized a programme on 26/10/2022 at UGC hall . The inauguration was done by the chief guest Shri. P K Jayaraj (Excise Division Officer Fort,TVM).The occasion was graced by the presence of Shri. It has been found that drug addicts are initiated on this path by their friends or company.Such a phenomenon occurs at school, college or university or at disco, or at a trip of excursion or at some social gatherings.
The major factors leading to drug addiction are lack of parental cure and supervision, lack of moral and religious education, media and pop culture, hatred for any authority, broken homes etc.
To check this alarming increase in the number of people taking drugs, the government has outlawed its abuse with hard penalties.Relentless campaign against drug addiction will yield the desired results. The campaign against drug may start with schools, advertisements, warnings by doctors, and so on.The young ones should be ensured of proper love and care.'Drugs are a waste of time. They destroy our memory and our self respect and everything that goes along with our self esteem'.
As a part of this campaign, Script writing and poster making competition were conducted and the winners get awarded in this occasion.I sem,BEd Social Science students won first prize in script writing and Chinju S Nair (I sem BEd) won first prize in poster making.Congratulations to the winners..🥳
