TALK ON ACTION RESEARCH IN EDUCATION AND WORLD POPULATION DAY CELEBRATION 2023✨️✨️

Government College of Teacher Education organized a talk on "ACTION RESEARCH IN EDUCATION"  on 11 july 2023 at 2.30 PM. Dr. Amit Ahuja was the resource person. He is an associate professor Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University , New Delhi. He explained action research in education simply and precisely. I really enjoyed his talk. The talk included many thought provoking ideas. At the end of the session there was a question - answer session also.

Action research is an approach to educational research that is commonly used by educational practitioners and professionals to examine, and ultimately improve, their pedagogy and practice. In this way, action research represents an extension of the reflection and critical self-reflection that an educator employs on a daily basis in their classroom. When students are actively engaged in learning, the classroom can be dynamic and uncertain, demanding the constant attention of the educator. Considering these demands, educators are often only able to engage in reflection that is fleeting, and for the purpose of accommodation, modification, or formative assessment. Action research offers one path to more deliberate, substantial, and critical reflection that can be documented and analyzed to improve an educator’s practice.

Social science association organized special assembly on  11 july 2023 in relation with world population day. World Population Day, observed on July 11, aims to raise awareness about global population issues and their impact on society. This significant event was established by the United Nations to emphasise the importance of addressing population-related concerns such as reproductive health, family planning, gender equality, and sustainable development.

By recognising the challenges and opportunities presented by population dynamics, World Population Day serves as a platform for governments, organisations, and individuals to engage in discussions and take action. Through this observance, the United Nations seeks to promote understanding, collaboration, and innovative solutions to ensure a sustainable future for all countries.

Throughout the years, World Population Day has played a crucial role in raising awareness, advocating for reproductive rights, and encouraging policies and programs that support sustainable development and the well-being of all individuals.

The significance of World Population Day lies in its ability to foster discussions and raise awareness about the impact of population dynamics on socioeconomic development, environmental sustainability, and individual well-being. It serves as a reminder that our growing population presents both challenges and opportunities that require our attention and proactive measures.

The theme for World Population Day 2023 is “Unleashing the power of gender equality: Uplifting the voices of women and girls to unlock our world's infinite possibilities”.

This theme highlights the crucial role of gender equality in achieving sustainable development and empowering women and girls to contribute to their full potential. It emphasises the need to address gender-based discrimination, promote access to education and healthcare, and ensure women's reproductive rights.

The social science association conducted debate and slogan writing competition in relation with world population day. The prize distribution of these competition was also held in the assembly. The prize of poster making competition conducted on International yoga day also distributed in the assembly.
