SCHOOL INTERNSHIP PROGRAMME -DAY 4❤️

While I was walking through the corridor after taking our room's key from the office room, I saw the children reaching the class one by one.  One of my student from 9B joined me  asking if  teacher would come early. She was living in Tamilnadu in the previous years and this year joined in this school. Reached the room and engaged in the necessary preparations for today's class. A Substitution class is obtained in the first period  in 9B. This time was used to give notes to the children. There was a class in second period in  8B. There were 5 people in the class. Liquid pressure and atmospheric pressure were taught today. The "bottle and water" activity provided a great learning experience for the children to understand the relationship between the height of a liquid column and the pressure of a liquid. The joy on the faces of the visually impaired children when they touched and understood the apparatus was heart touching. Completed the class according to the lesson plan. The fourth period I had a class at 9B. The projector was connected with the help of children. Showing the launch of Chandrayaan 3 (video) and powerpoint presentation, explained Newton's third law of motion to children.

In the afternoon, a programme was held in the auditorium related to  World Sight Day and white cane safety day . The teacher of the blind school was the chief guest. Visually challenged children presented various art programmes. In the evening, shared today's experience with the security uncle as usual and came out.

World Sight Day is observed across the globe on the second Thursday of October every year to raise awareness about blindness and vision impairment. This year the occasion is being marked on October 12 under the theme ‘love your eyes at work’.  The Indian government has organised several events across the country to draw attention to the issue. This World Sight Day, our focus is on helping people understand the importance of protecting their vision in the workplace and calling on business leaders to priorities the eye health of workers, everywhere.

Throughout the world, the long white cane is used by people who are blind or visually impaired as a tool for safe and reliable navigation.  The white cane is a symbol of the user’s skills and talents, mobility and independence.  It also allows the sighted person to recognize that the user is visually impaired.

The white cane was initially developed and put into use as a measure of safety, especially in traffic situations.  Sufficient training with an Orientation and Mobility specialist can aid in successful cane use, technique and safety.   Several countries have traffic laws designed to protect the person using the white cane.   The “VisionAware” section of the American Foundation for the Blind’s website illustrates several types of white canes that are internationally recognized.  Sometimes the white cane has a red band or strip for the purpose of contrast.

International White Cane Safety Day (October 15th) gives Lions an opportunity to increase awareness of the white cane traffic safety laws.  According to the World Blind Union, which is a global organization representing the 285 million blind or partially sighted people worldwide, “White Cane Day is observed worldwide to recognize the movement of blind people from dependency to full participation in society.”

 Keep it simple!!!
